Rainbows and Unicorns

Dear Time,

Please slow down.

Way, way down.

How did my baby girl all of a suddenly become almost 4?

My baby girl who has insisted on this year having her birthday filed with rainbows.

Why you ask? Because she loves this dress made by a sweet friend of mine.

Today she had her preschool birthday celebration complete with crowns, games, happy birthday singing, a gift from her teachers and of course… rainbow cupcakes.

and I was that mom who tries to put on this “have it all together” front but struggled to take pictures through blurry eyes.

who still can’t believe I’m the mother of an almost 4 year old.

Today Katelyn insisted on wearing her hair curly like mommy to school.

…like mommy…

I’m struggling not to get emotionally caught up in the fact that despite our toughest hours she still wants to be just like her mommy.

Look at that smile.

It spoke volumes to me today. I could tell as I watched her look at her friends singing happy birthday to her that she’d been patiently waiting for this day to come. Katelyn’s birthday is June 15th so she will always have a summer birthday. She will always spend the whole year celebrating everyone else’s birthday, anticipating the end of the year to celebrate hers. Not that learning patience or having a summer birthday is a bad thing… unless of course you’re almost 4.

Of course a party wouldn’t be complete without amazing rainbow cupcakes!

I owe all the credit to Baby Boy Bakery for making this rainbow cupcake loving almost 4 year old over the moon with joy today.

There wasn’t even a crumb left in the entire room when the celebration was done.

Today, watching my almost 4 year old beam from ear to ear I’m reminded of how proud I am to be her mommy.

How blessed I feel to know that God gave her to us and we get the privilege of watching her grow up.

So…

Happy almost 4th birthday my love, may it be filled with rainbows and unicorns…

Love, Mommy

Those cupcakes look delish! I’m having a hard time with the fact that my baby is 9 months old. I’m gonna be a mess on her first birthday.
