Blogging, Branding, Marketing and a few changes here and there

As I mentioned in my post last night I’m nearing the end of the SITS Marketing Seminar I’ve been taking and it’s been amazing. I’ve learned so much about myself and my blog. It’s re-ignited my love for blogging and the brainstorming [more on that later] that I’ve been learning to do has really helped me focus on finding more of a theme for my blog. After all, while it might appear like a modge podge of posts sometimes, I really do try and stay within a focus. Are you wondering what that is? I’m a faith-based blogger who loves to post about life, love, family and crafting.
Lesson 1 was all about Branding your Blog. I’ve always believed, for myself, that branding was important. I began my blog in 2009 to promote my handmade shop. While my focus has shifted, I believed that a good logo was important. That’s why it took me so long to bite the bullet and do a blog re-design. I was worried I’d loose my brand or my logo. I was overjoyed when Laura was able to incorporate the same fonts into my header so that the design changed, but my brand or logo was still evident. If you have or want a recognizable logo, I highly recommend trying to do something like this.
My logo:
My re-design:
Having a strong name when blogging is also important. I love my blogs name. Yes it is also the name of my store, but I do believe it suits me. I love to sew and craft, but yet I also look at my life as torn rags that the Lord needs to sew through and put back together. We are all broken people and in need of an amazing God who loves us more than we could ever imagine.
One of the things that I really felt I needed to work on in terms of branding my blog was my tagline. I remember when I wrote Laura asking her to add this tagline. I was so excited and thought I was so creative for coming up with it. WRONG! The more I looked at it, the more I felt like it gave off the impression that I really wasn’t that great of a mom, or that I sew first and mommy second. Not the
impression I want to give off. So I began brainstorming about what I could change it too. I have four favorites and I’d love to hear YOUR feedback. What do you think best suits the theme of my blog?
1.      Life sew inspiring
2.      Live ~ Sew ~ Create
3.      A Life Sew Inspired
4.      Say~Sew~Inspire
Also if you haven’t had the chance to take my short survey, will you pretty please take a minute to do so? Thanks.

I like numbers one and three. It is hard to choose between the two, but I think A Life Sew Inspired is very catchy.

I took a market/new business class a few years ago and found it very uplifting. I'm glad that you are enjoying it. Love your blog and logo!

I like #2. I know how important these are. When I was a personal chef it was called Sundae Dinner, where every dinner is a sundae dinner. Then I realzed that people got the tag line but were calling the business Sundae Diner (as in a restaurant). Itbwas so infuriating because who doesn't know how to read?

I like #2 and #3 the most. But I also like the Sew Sew Mama one a lot too! Hmmmm, need a new logo for myself. I like my tagline, a blog about being a wife, a mom, and everything in between…but I have been thinking about somehow addind in the word creative, since I feel like my blog is more a creative blog than just a mom blog.
